What I like about Kamarora is its lack of electricity, the great number of birds you tend to see, its hot springs and the excellent suguer you can get here. There is an official government guesthouse here (located next to the hot springs), but you may have to make a few inquires in Palu before showing up at their doorstep. Another problem is that in order to do any walking around, you will need a permission letter from the Conservation office in Palu, since the town is surrounded by the Lore Lindu National Park. (Although I have been told by the Conservation Office that this practice will cease in 1998). The road to Kamarora is the same as the road to Napu...bemos leave from Masomba market in Palu. It's about a 2 hour drive from Palu, and about 20 minutes after Palolo. The hotsprings (air panas), are located a little bit after the village. About 1/2 km after the hot springs you will find the local river...good for swimming and sometimes fishing. | |||
