EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

  • Received Master's Degree from the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Accredited professional librarian from the American Library Association.

  • Completed Bachelor of Arts Degree (with distinction) at the University of Alberta (Canada) with a major in Comparative Literature and a minor in German language.

  • Received Film Production Diploma from the Confederation College of Applied Arts in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

At McGill, I worked for two years as a reference librarian in the Government Documents section. In Indonesia, I designed training programs for Eastern Indonesian academic library staff, organized cataloguing procedures, wrote proposals for funding, and offered professional assistance. I also trained technical staff to develop Internet skills and produce web sites, and taught courses in computer operation and database development. I presented a number of seminar papers on the use of network technologies in libraries.

I am presently employed as a full-time editor for an investor relations' firm producing foreign language publications for Japanese corporations and companies. In addtion to my editing and research tasks, I am developing a hypertext database for editors and writers. While at McGill, I was responsible for researching and editing an English/French bilingual CD-ROM thesaurus of geriatric terms. At Canada Post, I edited a client database for the sales department.

In Tokyo I provide private lessons in English. In Solo I taught private students and prepared a guidebook for teaching children's classes. In Palu, where I taught three years, I was responsible for designing all syllabi, writing tests and instruction materials, and managing teaching and non-teaching staff. I also planned and constructed a resource center, aimed at providing information on studying abroad to high school and university students.
